In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
Advanced, ethical and affordable fertility treatments to help couples achieve their dream of parenthood.
What is IVF?
A scientifically proven fertility treatment where fertilization takes place outside the body.
IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization), commonly known as the “test-tube baby” technique, is one of the most successful and widely used infertility treatments. In this procedure, eggs and sperms are combined in a controlled laboratory environment. The resulting embryos are then transferred into the woman’s uterus to achieve pregnancy.
Maa Nursing Home and NetraJyoti Eyecare Centre offers advanced IVF technology, strict quality protocols and experienced specialists to maximise success rates.
When is IVF Recommended?
- Blocked, damaged or absent fallopian tubes
- Endometriosis
- Unexplained infertility
- Failed IUI cycles
- Male factor infertility (low count/motility)
- Age-related infertility
- Low ovarian reserve
- Premature menopause
- Pre-implantation genetic testing needs
Steps in the IVF Process
1) Counselling & Initial Consultation
The fertility specialist discusses the couple’s medical history, identifies the cause of infertility and explains the IVF process in detail.
2) Investigations
Tests for Men:
- Semen analysis
- Semen culture
- Sperm function test
- Routine blood tests
Tests for Women:
- Ultrasound (USG)
- HSG (tube testing)
- Hormonal profile
- Routine blood tests
3) Ovarian Stimulation
Fertility injections are given to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs. The response is monitored through ultrasound and hormonal tests.
4) Egg Retrieval
Once the eggs mature, they are collected under short anaesthesia using a guided needle. Most patients return home within a few hours.
5) Sperm Collection
The male partner provides a semen sample. The best-quality sperms are selected for fertilization.
6) Embryo Culture
Eggs and sperms are combined in the IVF lab. If sperm quality is low, ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) is done, where a single sperm is injected directly into the egg.
7) Embryo Transfer
After 2–5 days of growth, one or more healthy embryos are placed into the uterus using a thin catheter. Extra embryos can be frozen (cryopreservation) for future use.
Pregnancy is confirmed with a blood test after 14 days.
